About Arran

The Isle of Arran is situated on the west coast of Scotland and is the largest island in the Firth of Clyde.
Frequently described as ‘Scotland in miniature’, the island is stunningly beautiful – from the mountainous ‘highlands’ in the north to the lowlands in the south – a surprise awaits you around every corner!
The island is linked to the Scottish mainland by the fast and frequent Calmac ferry service operating from Ardrossan to Brodick. Check out sailing times at www.calmac.co.uk
The great beauty of Arran (other than its natural beauty and its friendly locals) is the wide and varied choice of local produce and goods that can be sourced, ranging from cheeses, real ales and whisky, to luxurious toiletries and gifts from Arran Aromatics, and works of art from local artists and craftsmen.
Accommodation is wide ranging on the island from plush hotels through to self catering holiday homes situated in the main areas of Brodick, Lamlash, Whiting Bay, Blackwaterfoot, Kildonan and Lochranza and unique remote locations. For details of accomodation in the Whiting Bay area of the island (which will locate you closer to COAST!) please click on the Accomodation link on this page.
For the ‘outdoors’ types, Arran has a treasure trove of activities ranging from walking, hill climbing, and cycling to sailing and golf –there is something for everyone. For details of Things to See and Do whilst you're visiting Arran please click on the Things to See and Do link on this page.
